Nutrition Education
The County of Lake, Public Health SNAP-Ed Office is dedicated to providing evidence-based nutrition education to students PreK-12, families, and the community at large.
Nutrition education efforts include a diverse array of activities:
- Interactive, budget-friendly recipe cooking classes and cooking demonstrations
- In-school and after-school nutrition lessons with taste tests of local fruits and vegetables
- Development and promotion of nutrition wellness policies
- Support and enhancement of farm to school programs, community gardens, and local farmers' markets
- Cultivation of multidisciplinary coalitions with community stakeholders and health-oriented organizations
- Free nutrition information at County-wide events
