Medical Reserve Corps
The Medical Reserve Corps is a nationally accredited unit of licensed and non-licensed medical personnel that support Public Health in emergencies and disasters. It consists of physicians, nurses, veterinarians, dentists, as well as non-medical volunteers. It is a great group of people wanting to help out. The Medical Reserve Corps is vastly important to Lake County.

Disaster Medical Skills Workshop
Goal: To deveolop disaster medical skills in licensed clinicians and non-licensed medical participants to be better prepared to support disaster and emergency response in real events.
Topics: Disaster Medical Care under austere conditions; cultural competency for responders; disaster medical skills for primary care providers with focus on prioritizing interventions; managing wounds and fractures; disaster triage for clinicians; START Triage and radiation and emergency medical management for response support.
Target Audience: Nurses, Physicians, EMT/Paramedics, Physicians Assistants, Dentists and Dental Health, Pharmacists, First Responders, Search and Rescue and other non-medical healthcare support.

Austere Medical Deployment Exercise
In May of 2013, two of our local MRC volunteers attended the Austere Medical Deployment exercise in Ventura California along with 4 other counties, the Emergency Medical Services Authority, the California Department of Public Health and the federal Civilian Volunteer Medical Reserve Corps.
